Traffic Safety Studies These studies are performed by the engineering staff and determine the need for specific traffic control devices such as traffic signals, caution lights, four-way stops, two-way stops, or yield conditions. The engineering staff also makes recommendations concerning geometric changes to the roadway to improve safety. Also, signing plans are developed to properly sign new roads.
Safety & Education
- Traffic Engineering strives to reduce the number of traffic injuries and fatalities through multiple engineering studies, education, and research. Our staff participates in multiple federally-funded grant programs. We also participate in statewide educational programs, demonstrating seat-belt safety and impaired driving awareness simulators to schools and safety events throughout Mississippi.
