MDOT Holds Safe Routes to School Funding Workshops beginning Next Week
 
JACKSON, MISS, Thursday, November 29, 2012--- The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) will hold five statewide Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Funding Workshops beginning next week.
 
MDOT will be accepting applications for the fourth round of funding for the federal SRTS program. The two-hour workshop will be offered in five locations statewide (see below). Participants will be walked through the 2013 Safe Routes to School Guidelines and 2013 Application form in hopes of answering questions participants may have. This workshop is free of charge and is not mandatory to apply. Participants should bring a copy of the 2013 SRTS Guidelines and 2013 Comprehensive Application form. These documents are available for download in the Safe Routes to School Program section of MDOT Traffic Safety’s website, www.mdottrafficsafety.com. If you are unable to access the application or guidelines, please contact Cookie Leffler at cleffler@mdot.ms.gov or 601-359-1454 for a hard copy. A few copies will be available at each workshop.
 
All workshops will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

The Safe Routes to School program enables and encourages all students in K-8 grade to safely walk and bicycle to school.
